Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
