Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The track showcases a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
