Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.
'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.
The pace bowler added to England's injury problems after leaving the field during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.
The right-arm seamer felt a problem in his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell during the morning session.
The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The concluding match of the tour in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.
The English side has been without key quicks one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.
Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.
His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.
Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, then making 28 while batting being one of only three England players who passed ten runs.
Post a single over late on the first day, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Unfortunately, at the end of his spell, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.
