Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by Sunderland before the international break, however can the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, fans and a range of guests.
For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
The singer's new record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.
A family member told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
